In 2008 Anushka Sharma made her acting debut with the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shah Rukh Khan. In her screen test she was not willing to take an unplanned test and instead took a day to prepare herself. After that, she signed up to film three times in collaboration with Yash Raj Films. In the movie, she played a young woman who was married to a middle age man (the part Shah Rukh Khan is playing). The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. The year 2010 was the year that Anushka Sharma appeared in the film 'Badmash Company' alongside Shahid Kapoor Vir Das and Meiyang Chang. The film received mixed reviews. Anushka Sharma starred in the same movie 'Band Baaja Baaraat. The actress played a Punjabi woman from the middle classes who runs her own wedding business. The film received excellent reviews and was deemed to be a surprise success. Anushka's 3-film contract at Yash Raj Films ended with Band Baaja Baraat.
